Book Review #96: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

(Finished Reading: 04/08/16
My 11th book this year.)

Cinder is now a runaway fugitive who has accidentally let loose another prisoner who gets caught up in her dramatic life.

Meanwhile, Scarlet’s grandmother is missing and she thinks a man who goes by the name “Wolf” definitely has something to do with it. She has no choice but to believe him when he says he can help. She follows him to France, throughout the journey, something feels not quite right but she can’t quite work it out.

Cinder realises she needs to find the woman who saved her and kept her hidden on Earth in order to save the planet that she knows as home.

Cinder and Scarlet’s problems bring them together. They must stay on the same side and help one another otherwise the evil Queen Levana will destroy everything that matters to all Earthens.

Not even sure where to start with his book. 2nd book of the Lunar Chronicle series.

So Cinder’s life is both traumatic and dramatic as ever. But life somehow manages to get more complicated when she realises she has to find the woman who brought her to Earth when she was only a young child. The woman happens to be Scarlet’s grandma and this is where the journey finally makes sense.

I love how the “Red Riding Hood” fairy tale has ever so slightly been woven  into the book. With Scarlet and her red hooded clothing, the Wolf who has taken grandma, and of course grandma herself!

Cinder is still growing and trying to adjust and to believe she is THE Princess Selene. Now everyone just needs her to find a way back to her rightful place on the throne and to save Earth from the evil Queen Levana.

This is a highly recommended read. I have enjoyed both books in the series so far and am very much looking forward to book 3
