Book Review #86: Mistborn – The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

I rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Finished Reading: 03/02/16
My 1st book of 2016.

The Lord Ruler of the Final Empire is believed to be a God. Indestructible and immortal. Such a cruel ruler who has divided his kingdom into Nobility or Skaa slaves.

This book is all about one brave Skaa with a crazy, determined idea of over throwing this ruler. With his mind set on avenging his wife’s death and to free all the Skaa slaves, Kelsier, gathers a crew with unimaginable skills to help set up his attempt at rebellion.

This book is about allomancy, slavery, nobility, war, love, friendship, trust, belief and hope.

My thoughts:
It took me a long time to really get stuck into this book. An amazingly clever author who had some magnificent fresh ideas. I have never read a book with such a great ending.

Allomancy is a new read for me and this book, although slow to begin with, has definitely set itself apart from a lot of other books. Full of description that got a little bit tiresome, but after finishing the book, I guess it was necessary to make the book work.

Allomancy: burning metals in your body to enhance emotions, become stronger, faster, to see better etc. But there are limitations and drawbacks depending on how you use your abilities.

I love Elend, I love Vin. The final crew are so brave and all so different. Sazed is such a beautiful character. I’m so glad there is a book 2 and more to the series. A dark book with a delightful and unpredictable end.

The ending made me feel both sad, overwhelmed and excited to find out what happens next. I would highly recommend this book but please, please please read past halfway!
